Illiger Ara Maracana

The Illiger belongs with about 43 cm tall to small macaws. His color is green. The forehead, the back and a generally V-shaped belly spot are red. Swing and coverts are blue, the underside of tail olive green. The female is usually colored as the male, but you can often recognize the fact that the belly spot is not as pronounced. It is often not as sharp against the green plumage. Normally, the females are slightly smaller. Illiger's Macaws have their home in eastern Brazil (São Paulo, Para, Maranhao, Mato Grosso, Rio Grande do Sul), Paraguay and northeastern Argentina. Here they inhabit savanna areas with trees and forests, mostly on rivers. Also on the Brazilian coast, you can watch them.
