Acht (recently died), Bubi, Emma and Klettermaxe: My happy budgies also live under the table! Or in a box? Sometimes also in and around the cage....

The budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus) is a species of bird belonging to the Old World parrot family (Psittacidae). These are small birds with a narrow, strongly layered tail. The plumage of both sexes is the same colour. Young birds are similar to adult birds. Budgerigars are Australia's most common parrot species outdoors, but abundance varies from region to region due to inconsistent climatic conditions. Their chances of survival improved in many of Australia's arid regions because of increased pastoralism, which resulted in the establishment of numerous drinking troughs. This has partly led to a significant increase in the number of individuals.
